The powerful owl

Some might wonder, "Why is there an owl on the front of this page?"

The answer lies in the story of my grandfather, a man whose life journey was marked by resilience and wisdom, much like the owl itself. Born in Cuba, he was forced to emigrate due to a dictatorial regime that stripped him of his land, business, and basic rights.

Orphaned and raised by two aunts, he was entirely self-educated. At the tender age of ten, he started working as a janitor in an accounting firm in Havana. He recounted tales of men who would thoughtlessly spit on the floors he diligently mopped. Little did they know that the young boy they disrespected would soon rise to become their manager.

"Abuelo," my grandfather, embodied strength and vigilance. Through sheer determination, he taught himself accounting and built a family with a beautiful woman of Spanish descent. This union was not without its challenges, as her family initially struggled to accept his curly hair and golden skin, symbols of his mixed heritage. Yet, his charm and wisdom eventually won them over, and together they raised two strong children.

I dedicate all my endeavors to my grandfather, the man who raised me. Although he wasn't a painter or a decorator, his keen eye for spotting errors, successes, and potential was unparalleled. His legacy of wisdom and resilience continues to guide and inspire me every day.
